Anton’s Next Step: From Radford to Georgia Southern

Anton’s journey through U.S. college soccer is a clear example of how the right guidance at the right moment can change a player’s trajectory.

Originally from Australia, Anton arrived in the United States as a true freshman at Radford University, where he made an immediate impact. In his first collegiate season, he appeared in 16 matches, earned 10 starts, recorded 3 assists, and logged over 800 minutes. His contributions helped Radford reach the Big South Tournament for the first time in five years, a meaningful achievement for the program.

Despite a strong freshman year, Anton knew he wanted to continue pushing himself at a higher level. After careful consideration, he made the decision to enter the NCAA transfer portal and look for a new environment that better aligned with his long-term goals.

That’s when he reached out to Netlink Football for support.

Navigating the Transfer Process

The transfer portal can open doors — but without a clear plan, it can also lead to missed opportunities. Anton’s priority was finding a program that offered a higher competitive level, strong development, and a proven pathway forward.

We began with a full evaluation of Anton’s profile, then worked closely with him to:

  • Build a professional soccer résumé tailored to the transfer market
  • Create updated highlight footage that reflected his college-level experience
  • Identify programs that matched his level, position, and ambitions
  • Conduct direct, targeted outreach to college coaching staffs
  • The focus wasn’t on volume — it was on fit and opportunity.

The Outcome: Georgia Southern University

Through this process, Anton received multiple offers from Division I programs. After evaluating his options, he committed to Georgia Southern University, a significant step up in both competitive level and exposure.

Georgia Southern has established itself as one of the strongest programs in the country in recent seasons, including:

  • 9 weeks ranked Top 25 / Receiving Votes
  • Highest national ranking (#6) and RPI ranking (#5) in program history
  • A historic win over #4 Marshall
  • Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, and 5 All-Conference selections
  • Two Conference Players of the Year across the 2023–24 cycle
  • A 13–4–1 record, undefeated non-conference play, and a Top 4 conference finish
  • Two players drafted in the most recent MLS SuperDraft cycle

For Anton, this move represented not just a new school, but a higher-performance environment built for continued growth.

A Strong Start in Spring

Anton has already begun his first spring season at Georgia Southern and is off to a strong start. This spring, he will face four professional teams, gaining valuable experience against top-level opposition as he continues to adapt to his new environment.

What Anton’s Journey Shows

Anton’s path highlights an important truth about college soccer: progress isn’t always linear, but with the right decisions, it can be intentional.

From a productive freshman season at Radford to securing a transfer opportunity at a nationally ranked program, his journey reflects what’s possible when preparation, honesty, and timing come together.

At Netlink Football, this is exactly what we aim to provide — clear direction, strategic positioning, and support during the moments that matter most.
